Child care resource and referral agencies (CCR&Rs) serve families, child care providers and the local community. Parents know what child care is best for their family and CCR&Rs work hard every day to give families the information and support they need. CCR&Rs also support and train child care providers. And, they help parents, providers and the community understand how child care works and ways it can be improved.
What does a CCR&R do?
Below are some of the core CCR&R services.
CCR&Rs help families find child care. They:
- Help you create a child care plan.
- Refer you to the child care programs that meet your needs.
- Have counselors that speak your language.
CCR&Rs offer support to families. They:
- Help you figure out if you qualify for help paying for child care.
- Offer workshops, support groups, and play groups.
CCR&Rs help child care providers. They:
- Provide information and training on many topics, such as starting and running a business, child development, and health and safety tips.
- Run the Trauma-Informed Care project to help you care for children experiencing trauma.
What is the Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP)?
CCR&Rs recruit and train new family child care homes through the Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP).
- CCIP helps you get licensed by helping you:
- Set up your family child care home
- Understand licensing and other requirements
- Complete your licensing application
- Prepare your family child care home for a licensing inspection
- CCIP helps you once you are licensed by offering training and support on:
- Running your business
- Understanding and working with young children
- Working with families
How does a CCR&R help your community?
CCR&Rs help your community. They:
- Share information on topics such as child care supply and demand and local zoning and regulations.
- Share updated information on child care programs with Community Care Licensing.
- Help communities understand how child care works and ways it can be improved.
